Civil case proceedings
A Lawrence woman has refiled a lawsuit against a grocery store chain for damages from an alleged fall in 1990 after her first lawsuit was dismissed in June for lack of prosecution. Queen E. Clark, age not listed, filed the suit against Dillon Food Stores, claiming the chain's store at 1740 Mass. was negligent in not cleaning a slippery substance on the store's floor. Her original case was dismissed by District Judge Mike Malone because there were no response or other pleadings by the two parties. Clark's attorney, D. Richard White, asked that the case not be dismissed because he was working toward an out-of-court settlement, which has yet to occur. Ms. Clark alleges she slipped on the substance and fell as she shoppped at the store on Sept. 19, 1990. Her lawsuits seeks more than $50,000 in damages.
