Several events have been scheduled in conjunction with commencement at Haskell Indian Junior College.

Haskell's commencement will be 10 a.m. May 8 and will feature Wilma Mankiller, chief of the Cherokee Nation, as the keynote speaker. The school's annual spring powwow will be May 8-10 at Haskell Stadium. As part of a yearlong series of events aimed at increasing awareness about Native American cultures and contributions, the powwow was moved to the stadium to highlight the contributions Native Americans made to the school.

Native Americans raised money for the stadium and built the facility.
