A Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department nurse has been selected as a recipient of a 1992 "Nursing: The Heart of Healthcare" award, sponsored by the Kansas University School of Nursing.
Ann Ailor, a health department nurse, joins nine other nurses recognized by the award. A committee of 20 health care leaders selected the recipients from more than 750 nominations, a news release from the KU Medical Center said.
Ailor, a registered nurse, coordinates HIV-positive and AIDS testing and counseling for the health department.
"Nursing: The Heart of Healthcare" was started in 1990 to recognize nurses and their role in health care.
Award recipients will be honored at an awards banquet May 1 at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center in Kansas City, Mo.
