The Horizon 2020 Selection Committee has chosen three consulting firms as the final candidates for coordinating public participation in the Horizon 2020 planning process.
Twenty firms sent in proposals for the project, according to Price Banks, director of the Lawrence-Douglas County Metropolitan Planning Commission.
The selection committee will interview representatives of Lane Kendig, Inc., an Illinois firm, on Thursday, Banks said.
Representatives from Development Strategies Inc., St. Louis, and Trkla, Pettigrew, Allen and Payne of Chicago will meet with selection committee members next week.
The Horizon 2020 project will define the city's policies for development through the next 25 years.
Banks said the firm chosen for the project will work with service clubs, neighborhood associations and community interest groups to get their input into the planning process.
