Services for Harve M. Flory, 93, rural Baldwin, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Willow Springs German Baptist Meeting House, south of Lawrence, with Darrell Shuck, Lester Flory and Merle Flory officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pleasant Grove.
Mr. Flory died today, Oct. 21, 1991, at his home.
He was born July 15, 1898, in the LaPeer community in southwest Douglas County, the son of Elmer L. and Mary Ellen Montgomery Flory. As a young child, he moved to Pleasant Grove and graduated from the Pleasant Grove School. He lived in the area his whole life. He was a farmer and a stockman, and also worked for eight years at the Logan-Moore Lumber Co. in the 1950s. He and his wife traveled extensively in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Mr. Flory was a member of the Willow Springs German Baptist Church and a longtime board member of the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
He married Elsie Marie Shuler on Dec. 17, 1919, in Franklin County. She survives of the home. A son, Harold Flory, died Sept. 14, 1963.
Survivors include a son, Wayne, rural Baldwin; three brothers, Riley, Eldorado, Ohio, Henry, rural Baldwin, and Arley, rural Lawrence; eight grandsons; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-stepgrandson; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
