A pizza delivery driver was knocked unconscious and robbed of an undisclosed amount of money Saturday night in North Lawrence, according to Lawrence police.
The 21-year-old victim, a driver for Pizza Shuttle, was treated for swelling around his cheek and nose at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, said Police Sgt. Ron Dalquest.
Dalquest said police were called at 8:06 p.m. Saturday about the robbery, which occurred in the 300 block of Lincoln Street.
The victim told police he had just made a delivery and was driving west in the 300 block of Lincoln when a cat ran out in front of his car. Dick told police he slammed on the brakes and the brakes locked up.
Dick then got out of the car to check his brakes and was bent over the rear of the car when someone hit him on the back of the head and knocked him unconscious, Dalquest said. When Dick woke up, he found Pizza Shuttle's money had been taken, Dalquest said.
Dalquest said police have no suspects.
