The condition of a man suspected of twice robbing Wellsville Bank has improved, but charges still haven't been filed, according to a spokesman for the FBI in Kansas City, Mo.
Max Geiman, an FBI special agent, said the man was released from an Overland Park hospital and taken to a Johnson County convalescent center earlier this month.
The suspect, a 38-year-old Olathe man, suffered extensive injuries when he was thrown from a pickup truck in a one-vehicle accident Sept. 6 on Interstate 35 in Lenexa.
Law enforcement authorities believe the man may have robbed the Wellsville bank on Aug. 23 and Sept. 4. He also is a supect in the Sept. 5 robbery of a drugstore in Louisburg and an Aug. 5 robbery at a Drexel, Mo., bank.
Geiman said the robberies still are under investigation.
