Law enforcement report Burglaries and thefts reported

An undetermined amount of money was taken from an unsecured safe between 11 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Paradise Cafe, 728 Mass. Lawrence police today reported that the business had not been burglarized during the four-day span.

Sheriff reports

An 18-year-old Haskell Indian Junior College student today reported she was raped. Sheriff's officials had not determined the time or location of the incident. No further information was available by presstime.

Police reports

An 18-year-old Kansas University student was arrested on charges of sexual battery, battery and assault after he allegedly grabbed and hit a 17-year-old female KU student about 11 p.m. Thursday in the Kansas Union ballroom, KU police reported. The man allegedly grabbed the woman's breast, then struck her with his fist, police reported. The incident occurred during a concert in the ballroom, police Lt. John Mullens said. He said the victim knew the suspect.

District court Criminal case proceedings

A Dec. 5 trial has been set for Kenneth Foster, 40, Lawrence, who is charged with two felony counts of selling cocaine. Foster, along with Gary Dawson, 34, and Joseph Jones, 24, also of Lawrence, were arrested July 5 on drug-related charges. Jones is awaiting trial Dec. 2 on four felony counts of selling cocaine. Dawson pleaded guilty this week to one felony count of selling cocaine and one felony count of attempting to sell cocaine. Dawson's sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 14.

Municipal court sentencings

Delbert W. Terry Jr., 24, 624 N. Fifth, three counts of OUI; $2,860 in fines; $33 in court costs; 270-day jail term.
