Leavenworth A 19-year-old man arrested in Tonganoxie Sunday after allegedly harvesting marijuana in Jefferson County was charged Wednesday in Leavenworth County District Court.
Michael Sims, Kansas City, Kan., was charged with possession of marijuana. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 23.
Sims and a 17-year-old youth from Kansas City, Kan., were arrested after the Tonganoxie Police Department received a tip from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office that the two had been spotted picking marijuana and were driving toward Tonganoxie on Kansas Highway 16. Officers stopped the car in Tonganoxie and found six four-gallon bags of marijuana in the trunk, according to a police department spokesman.
Sims was released from the Leavenworth County Jail in Leavenworth on a $500 cash surety bond. The juvenile was released to the custody of his parents, the officer said.
