A man wearing a stocking cap over his face and wielding a "large kitchen knife" robbed a west Lawrence business Saturday night of an undetermined amount of money, according to Lawrence police.

The robbery occurred about 9:20 p.m. Saturday at Ray's Party Shop, 2100 W. 25th, when the man walked in the door, showed the knife to the clerk and demanded money, said Police Sgt. Ron Dalquest. The man then put the clerk in the walk-in cooler, Dalquest said.

As the man ran out the door, he passed a customer who was entering the door, Dalquest said. Officers were trying to locate the customer to get more information Saturday night, Dalquest said.

It was the second armed robbery in a week in Lawrence. On Nov. 9, a gunman held up Wehner's Liquor Store, 945 E. 23rd.
