Services for Charley Milton Gienau, 67, Eudora, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary with the Rev. Cheryl Somers-Ingersol officiating.

Services also will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Chapel of Memories in Waterloo, Iowa. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa.

Mr. Gienau died Friday, Nov. 1, 1991, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 27, 1924, in Denver, Iowa, the son of Gustev and Clara Schmidt Gienau.

He attended public schools in Denver, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked as a clerk for 20 years at the U.S. Postal Service in Waterloo, Iowa. He was postmaster at Evansdale, Iowa, for 10 years. He retired in 1984 and moved to Eudora from Janesville, Iowa, in 1990.

Mr. Gienau was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Janesville, Iowa, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

He married Opal Arlene Harris May 11, 1946, in Troy. She died Dec. 12, 1989. He married Norma Harris Strickell on Sept. 1, 1990. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include five sons, Charles L., Huntington Beach, Calif., Larry D., Cresco, Iowa, Dennis D., Cedar Falls, Iowa, Jeffrey J. of Waterloo, Iowa, and Ricky R., Des Moines, Iowa; a daughter, Becky L. Nelson, Franktown, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Miriam Johnson, Overbrook; two stepsons, Earl Strickell, Perry, and Rodney Strickell, Olathe; two brothers, Louis, Tripola, Iowa, and Alfred, Denver, Iowa; two sisters, Esther Bartling of Denver, Iowa, and Verena Westendorf, Waverly, Iowa; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Charley Gienau Memorial Fund in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family will receive friends 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the mortuary.
