Two teen-agers being chased by Johnson County authorities were injured early Sunday in eastern Douglas County when the stolen van they were in went out of control and rolled onto its top.
The two teens, who told authorities they had run away from a youth home in Shawnee, were treated after the accident at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and released.
A Douglas County Sheriff's Department report said the accident occurred at 3:51 a.m. Sunday on Douglas County Road 442 about 7 miles east of Lawrence and less than a mile west of the Douglas County-Johnson County border.
Shawnee police began chasing the boys about 3:30 a.m. after seeing the van, which belongs to an Overland Park couple, in western Shawnee. Johnson County sheriff's officers took over the chase on Kansas Highway 10 and Kill Creek Road. Johnson County authorities said speeds ranged from 40 mph to 90 mph during the chase.
After the two teens were released from the hospital, they were taken to a juvenile detention facility in Johnson County.
