A Mass of the Resurrection for Joseph Zemites, 88, Lawrence, will be said at 10 a.m. Monday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with the Rev. Frank Horvat officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Zemites died Friday at his home.

He was born July 4, 1902, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

He had been a resident of Lawrence since moving here from Victoria in 1985. He lived in Olathe for 30 years and Kansas City before moving to Victoria.

Mr. Zemites was assistant vice president at First National Bank in Kansas City, Mo., before he retired in 1967. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Banking.

He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and the St. Fidelis Council Knights of Columbus, where he attained the 4th Degree and was a former district deputy.

He married Sophia Kasick on Sept. 28, 1927, in Kansas City, Kan. She survives at the home.

Other survivors include two sons, the Rev. Joseph Zemites, Oak Harbor, Wash., and John Zemites, Shawnee; two daughters, Lois Curtis, Parker, Colo., and Mary Beth Bialek, Lawrence; a brother, Albert Zemites, Clearview City; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Prayer services will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, which is in charge of arrangements.

The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn. or to Corpus Christi Catholic Church, sent in care of the mortuary.
