— Services for Marlin Ira "Bill" Steffey, 76, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Ozawkie with the Rev. Larry Fry officiating. Burial will be in Ozawkie Cemetery.

Mr. Steffey died Monday at an Oskaloosa nursing home.

He was born Jan. 31, 1915, in Oskaloosa. He moved with his parents to a farm near Ozawkie and graduated from Ozawkie High School in 1932. He attended Kansas State Agricultural College in Manhattan. He farmed for 25 years, worked as a toll collector for the Kansas Turnpike Authority in Lawrence from 1957 to 1962 and was a supervisor for Patrons Mutual Insurance Co. in Olathe from 1962 until he retired in 1979 after suffering a stroke. He returned to Ozawkie in 1974.

Mr. Steffey was a member of the United Methodist Church and Pleasant View Grange, both in Ozawkie, and Oskaloosa Lodge No. 14, AF&AM.;

He married Erma Brammell on Sept. 18, 1933, in Troy. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Delvis, Ozawkie; two daughters, Marlene Bush, Melvern, and Janice Parker, Moran; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the United Methodist Church in Ozawkie.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Hampton-Barrett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.
