Officials from Kansas University and Kanagawa University, a school in Hiratsuka, Japan, one of Lawrence's two sister cities, were to sign an exchange agreement today.

Twenty-three Japanese students from Kanagawa University have been studying English at KU since February, and KU's Office of Study Abroad is sponsoring a five-week exchange program on the Hiratsuka campus this summer.

Lisa Harris, a program assistant with KU's International Studies and Programs, today said seven delegates from Kanagawa University, including senior faculty and administrators, and administrators from KU were to sign the exchange agreement during a 4 p.m. ceremony at Adams Alumni Center.

Lawrence Mayor Shirley Martin-Smith and city manager Mike Wildgen also were expected to attend.
