To the Editor:

Last week, the participants of the Rock Chalk Revue showed our community one more time what a good time could be had raising money. The board of directors of the United Way of Douglas County wishes to applaud their efforts and their achievements.

The level of professionalism that goes into the planning, marketing, business management and production was obviously high. The amount of commitment by all involved from beginning to end was apparent. The show was outstanding in all ways.

Thousands of volunteer hours go into the preparation for the annual event to benefit the United Way. This year, over a thousand volunteer hours also were spent in agencies in Douglas County providing services and learning more about the needs of the community.

Each year, the contribution from the Rock Chalk Revue is the first donation for our annual campaign. This year, $35,000 was given to benefit the agencies participating in the 1991-92 fund drive. This is the single largest gift annually from a fund-raising event and is deeply appreciated by United Way, the member agencies and the service recipients.

Our community has always benefitted form the presence of Kansas University. We are proud to be included in the activities of these student leaders in Douglas County.

Sandy Praeger,

president, United Way

of Douglas County.
