Police reports

Stereo equipment valued at $3,400 was taken late Wednesday from a house at 416 Sierra Dr., which was severely damaged by fire the same night. Officers said the burglary apparently occurred before the fire started. The fire was reported at 8:56 p.m. Police said the owner of the residence, Ed Hawkins, had left the house earlier in the evening and did not come home until after the fire was extinguished. Damage from the blaze, which started in a lint-clogged and overheated clothes dryer, was estimated at $20,000.
