The Douglas County Courthouse has something in common with many houses and businesses in Lawrence it needs a new roof.
The stately building also withstood the wrath of the March 26 hailstorm that damaged rooftops throughout the city. On Monday, the county commission will consider approval of a contract with Vincent Roofing of Topeka to repair the entire slate roof on the building.
The contact is for $176,430, said Chris McKenzie, county administrator. The courthouse's copper guttering also is in need of repairs, he said.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at the courthouse, 11th and Massachusetts streets.
Here is Monday's agenda:
Consider June 26 and 27 minutes.
Consider commission orders.
Consider a request by the city of Baldwin to plat the Baldwin City Industrial Park.
Consider a contract with Vincent Roofing, Topeka, for repair of the courthouse roof.
Consider revised agreement with the Kansas Turnpike Authority for maintenance of certain bridges over the turnpike.
Consider accounts payable and appointments; receive miscellaneous comment from the commissioners, county administrator and the public.
Executive session to discuss a personnel matter.
