The Native Sons and Daughters of Kansas are accepting nominations for their "Native Kansan of the Year" award.
Nominations should be submitted no later than Aug. 31.
Awards are made each year to people who have brought distinction and recognition to themselves and to the state. Past recipients include Lawrence developer Bob Billings.
The recipient of the award must have been born in Kansas.
Nominations and biographical information should be mailed to Kansas Native Sons and Daughters, P.O. Box 1031, Topeka 66601.
Nominees must be able to attend an annual banquet held in recognition of Kansas Day. The banquet will be at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 24, 1992, at the Ramada Inn Downtown, 420 E. Sixth, Topeka.
Jerry Hedrick, Olathe, is president of the Native Sons, and Alice Ann Johnson, Lawrence, is president of the Native Daughters.
It is not necessary to belong to the Native Sons and Daughters to place a nomination or attend the banquet.
