The Kansas University Alumni Association today promoted two employees to replace the general manager of the Alumni Center and Learned Club, a KUAA official said.
Fred Williams, executive director of KUAA, said Bryan Greve has been hired as the center's club manager, and Mike Wellman will be the center's facilities manager.
Both appointments are effective Monday, Williams said. He told KUAA staff today of the hiring decisions.
The administrative shuffle was prompted by the resignation of Kevin Carroll, who will become general manager of the University Club of St. Louis. His resignation takes effect Saturday.
Carroll joined the association's staff in 1983 to prepare for the opening of the Adams Center and 2,700-member Learned Club, which serves members and hosts KU functions.
Williams said the KUAA executive board decided to split the duties held by Carroll to simplify the budgeting and management system.
"When you have good people to promote, it's a strong statement of the current management that is leaving and a strong statement for the future," he said.
Greve is associate manager of the Alumni Center. In his new position, he will be in charge of all food service.
And Wellman is director of building operations. His new job makes him responsible for housekeeping, parking and building maintenance.
