This winter, members of the First Christian Church are learning to empathize with construction workers.
Inclement weather has held up their efforts to relocate a house for their longtime custodian, just as it often does commercial building projects this time of year.
According to the Rev. Ron Goodman, the church's plans remain on track for moving the house from the northeast corner of 11th and Kentucky to 820 Ind., but the weather hasn't cooperated.
He added that because the project is dependent on volunteers, work time generally is confined to Saturdays.
In the meantime, custodian Robert Lewis continues to make his temporary home in another house the church owns in the 1000 block of Kentucky.
Goodman said if the weather breaks, congregation members will be back on the job Saturday, and "as soon as it gets to the point of moving, we'll sure let you know."
