— Services for Myrtle Elizabeth Cox, 80, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hampton-Barrett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa with the Rev. William Atchley officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Oskaloosa.

Mrs. Cox died Saturday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born May 21, 1910, in Topeka.

She spent most of her life in Jefferson County before she moved to Lawrence in 1962.

She had worked at the Hawks Nest at Kansas University and was a nurses aid at Valleyview and Wakarusa nursing homes in Lawrence before she retired in 1975.

Mrs. Cox was a member of the Auxiliary to Alford-Clarke Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 852 in Lawrence.

She was married to Robert Z. Cox on Feb. 1, 1936, in Oskaloosa. He died in 1988.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lee Maxfield, Holton; three sons, Carl Robert Cox, Twin Falls, Idaho, Leslie W. Cox, Lawrence, and Leroy Cox, Baldwin; a sister, Elva Cox, Oskaloosa; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
