The final draft of the city's legislative program will be up for approval when the Lawrence City Commission meets at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday.
The program, which offers the city's recommendations on state legislation, will be presented to the Douglas County legislative delegation Wednesday.
Commissioners and city staff have been fine-tuning and adding to the program for the past several weeks. Receiving most attention have been sections on state highway and road funding, regulation of private clubs, tax abatements and preservation of natural areas.
The program also includes sections on property taxes, state aid to local governments, vehicle taxes, city and county planning and zoning, public employee relations, the census, Kansas University financing, water supplies and solid waste.
The approved program will be presented by Mayor Shirley Martin-Smith to a joint meeting of the Douglas County legislative delegation, city commissioners, the Douglas County Commission, USD 497 Board of Education and board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce. The joint meeting is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Wednesday at Adams Alumni Center.

Consider payment of expenses.
Adopt a resolution setting Feb. 19 as the date for a public hearing on the demolition of 520 Maine.
Receive and consider bids for Community Development Block Grant rehabilitation at 815 Elm, 807 Lawrence Ave., 425 Ohio, 1325 East Glenn Dr.
Receive and consider request from Garber Enterprises for variances with conditions to underground power requirements in a portion of Somerset Heights II.
Authorize mayor to sign Local Public Authority agreement with the Kansas Department of Transportation for paving 31st Street from Iowa to Kasold.
Approve on first reading traffic ordinances authorizing the installation of a stop sign at North Eighth and Elm streets; authorizing the installation of a stop sign at 16th and New Hampshire streets; authorizing the removal of parking on both sides of Louisiana from 21st to 23rd streets; authorizing the removal of parking from the west and south sides of Parkview Road around inside of curve.
Approve an amendment to the Lawrence Housing Authority's Annual Contributions Contract.
Conduct a public hearing and consider a resolution declaring 1014 Miss. unsafe and dangerous and allowing the property owner 120 days to repair all violations and make the property safe and secure.
Consider a request to rezone from RO-2 (residence-office) to RM-2 (multiple-family residence) approximately 0.44 acre south of Sonic Drive Inn at W. Sixth Street and Gateway Court.
Conduct a public hearing and consider paving Harper Street from 23rd Street to 25th Terrace.
Consider revised draft of 1991 Legislative Program.
Consider draft of city/county letter to congressional delegation concerning financing for road projects.
