Graveside services for Gayle D. Housworth, 52, Lawrence, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Housworth died of natural causes Tuesday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born May 29, 1938, in Jefferson County. He had lived in Lawrence most of his life.
Mr. Housworth owned and operated an auto repair shop in Perry for several years until he was disabled three years ago.
He was a member of Mt. Oread Aerie No. 309, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and was an honorary member of the Alford-Clarke Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 852, both in Lawrence. He was an avid outdoor sportsman.
Survivors include his mother, Lola F. LaDuke Housworth, of the home; two daughters, Sherri Housworth, Kansas City, Mo., and Penny Housworth DeLoach, Houston; two stepsons, Ray Ramey and John Grimes, both of Lawrence; two stepdaughters, Kim Turner and Rene Tucker, both of Lawrence; a brother, Dary, and a sister, Sarah Peters, both of Lawrence; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn., in care of the mortuary.
