Police reports

A 30-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man suffered a broken jaw during a fight at 2:50 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of Hardee's restaurant, 2030 W. 23rd, police reported today. Officers reported that the victim and a friend, a 23-year-old Overland Park man, stopped to get directions at the restaurant and got into an argument with some other men. The argument erupted into a fight. The victim, who was treated and released at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, told officers he did not want to press charges.

Burglars caused more than $500 damage to Lawrence High School after breaking in between 1:30 a.m. and 9:40 a.m. Saturday. Police said burglars apparently entered the building through a window and then went through several rooms and offices. School officials were unsure whether anything was taken, but estimated property damage at a minimum of $500. Police have no suspects.

Sheriff's reports

Deputies this morning continued to investigate the death of Marni B. Wagner, 20, Rt. 1, whose body was found about 9 p.m. Friday at her home three-tenths of a mile west of County Road 13 on U.S. Highway 40. Deputies found no indication that Wagner committed suicide, and no foul play is suspected. Dr. Laurance Price, Douglas County coroner, said he performed an autopsy Saturday and ruled that the death was not violent. However, he could not further specify the cause of death.
