Local Phillips 66 service stations will donate 1 cent for every gallon of gasoline sold for a week, in support of U.S. servicemen and servicewomen.
The money will be sent to the United Service Organizations to support U.S. troops serving in Operation Desert Storm.
Bob McBride, president of M&M Oil, the local Phillips 66 marketer, said money will be collected from all gasoline sold from Wednesday through next Tuesday at local stations.
"We wanted to find a way to support the troops over there," McBride said. "The USO will be able to use the donations in whatever operations they are doing in support of the troops."
Phillips 66 has seven locations in Lawrence, he said.
