Law enforcement report Burglaries and thefts reported
A camera and three rings valued together at $2,150 were taken between 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and 6:30 a.m. Thursday from a residence in the 1100 block of New Jersey. The burglars entered the house though a kitchen door on the east side of the house.
A facsimile machine, adding machine and tools worth a total of $2,360 were taken between 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday from the garage area of McElhaney Fence Builders, 776 Grant. The burglar pried open a garage door to the business to gain access, causing $200 damage to the door.
A 20-year-old Lawrence man was arrested shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday at his residence in the 800 block of Connecticut on charges of felony aggravated assault and a misdemeanor count of battery. The man reportedly threatened a 20-year-old Lawrence man with a knife and grabbed a 23-year-old Lawrence woman around the neck when she tried to separate the two men. The man remained in jail without bond pending a court appearance at 4 p.m. today.
District court Criminal case proceedings
Kenneth Foster, 40, Lawrence, pleaded guilty on Thursday to an amended complaint charging him with a felony count of conspiracy to sell cocaine. The state dropped two additional felony charges of selling cocaine. Foster, who will be sentenced Jan. 10, was arrested July 5 along with Joseph Jones, 24 and Gary Dawson, 30, after a six-month investigation by the Lawrence-Douglas County Drug Enforcement Unit.
Glenn R. Brunner, 25, Rt. 1, was charged Thursday with three felony counts of aggravated assault, one felony count of criminal damage to property and one felony count of resisting arrest. The charges stem from an incident early Saturday morning when Brunner reportedly fired shots into a residence about five miles southeast of Lawrence. Brunner, who is free on a recognizance bond, has a preliminary hearing set for Dec. 30.
