Jewelry valued at $1,500 was taken between 9 p.m. Friday and 1:45 a.m. Saturday from an apartment in the 1700 block of Tennessee. Someone pried off a window screen in order to enter the apartment. Damage was estimated at $50.

A purse, wallet and currency was taken between 10:15 p.m. Friday and 12:15 a.m. Saturday from a vehicle parked in the 500 block of Wisconsin. Total value of the items was $870.

Condition reports

Stephen Kelly, 32, 1308 Vt., was listed in fair condition Saturday night at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., where he was taken at 1:16 a.m. Thursday after falling from his apartment building.

Fire calls

Lawrence firefighters:

Investigated a natural gas smell at 10:42 a.m. Saturday at an office at 3320 Clinton Parkway Ct.

Investigated a false alarm at 12:27 p.m. Saturday at Gertrude Sellards Pearson residence hall, 500 W. 11th.

Investigated a fire at 3:58 p.m. Saturday in a residence at 709 Ariz. A cardboard box that was on a stove caught fire when the stove was turned on, fire Capt. Robert Burton said. The fire was out when firefighters arrived, he said. Damage was estimated at $15.

Extinguished a grass fire at 4:07 p.m. Saturday near Kasold Drive and Peterson Road.
