Law enforcement report Injury accidents

A 53-year-old Kansas City, Mo., man was treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and released Friday after the triple tractor-trailer he was driving hit some concrete barriers along the Kansas Turnpike about four miles east of Lawrence.

At 6:15 a.m. Friday, Pompey D. Jackson was eastbound in the left lane of the turnpike when, while driving through a construction zone, the truck ran into the concrete barriers. The truck and its accompanying trailers jack-knifed, with one trailer overturning and the truck and two other trailers falling into a ditch.

Jackson was treated at LMH for a cut to the head and released.

A 20-year-old rural Jefferson County man was treated at Jefferson County Memorial Hospital after an accident early this morning.

The man, Tony Lansing, was driving north on Wellman Road about two miles south of Winchester when he apparently fell asleep at the wheel. He received a head contusion, and a cut to his lip required stitches.
