Zac Huston, a Journal-World paper carrier whose quick action after spotting a fire on his route was credited with saving a house, was honored at Tuesday's meeting of the Lawrence City Commission.

The Lawrence Fire Department gave Huston a certificate of appreciation "for his willingness to get involved, his calm and his composure," said Battalion Chief Daniel Morrow as he presented the award.

Before posing for a photo with the 13-year-old hero, Morrow, and Fire Chief Jim McSwain, Mayor Bob Walters said, "He happened to be at the right place at the right time and had the courage to do some other things, too."
