Hank Booth, general manager of KLWN-KLZR radio stations, was honored Friday night with the Don Volker Award presented by the 1991 Leadership Lawrence class.
The Leadership Lawrence class each year honors a person who displays Volker's enthusiasm for projects, people and Lawrence, and who has the ability to instill in people the belief in their own ability to succeed.
The award is named for Don Volker, who was instrumental in establishing the Leadership Lawrence program and was its first chairman at the time of his death in 1982.
Booth, who this month will become chair of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, also has served on many local government and public service boards including the Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Commission, Lawrence Rotary, and the Douglas County Extension Council executive board.
Booth has received several Kansas Association of Broadcasters awards for his editorials, and was awarded the KAB distinguished service award in 1990.
The Volker award was announced during the graduation banquet for this year's Leadership Lawrence class.
