Lawrence school officials still have not developed a figure for the district's Sept. 20 official enrollment count.
Assistant Supt. Bob Taylor said this morning that he didn't expect to have the districtwide enrollment figure until early next week. Although the schools already have taken their individual student counts, Taylor is waiting until he receives those numbers in the schools' building reports.
District administrators have imposed a Monday deadline for the building reports, which include information about such things as the daily schedule, new library acquisitions and enrollment.
Although earlier reports showed the unofficial districtwide headcount to be 8,893, administrators have not yet determined the district's full time equivalency (FTE) enrollment. That's a more accurate count of how many students are actually in the schools because it takes into consideration kindergartners and any other students who don't go to school for a full day.
Most other districts in the area already have reported their official headcounts and FTE enrollments.
