A Lawrence liquor store was robbed Saturday night by an armed man Lawrence police believe has held up several businesses in recent weeks.
Police Sgt. Ron Dalquest said Romero's Liquor Store, 805 Vt., was robbed shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday by a man wielding a shiny revolver.
The armed man told the store's clerk to give him all the cash in the store's register, which the clerk handed to the man, Dalquest said.
Dalquest said he did not know how much money was taken. No other people were in the store at the time of the robbery, he said.
No arrests were made, but police late Saturday night were looking for a small, dark-colored Honda, which the suspect may have driven from the scene, Dalquest said.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic man with a short hair in his early 20s, 5-feet-8 and about 135 pounds.
The man fits the description of suspects in armed robberies that occurred Oct. 23 at the Kwik Shop convenience store, 1714 W. 23rd; Oct. 15 at the E-Z Shop convenience store, 955 E. 23rd; Oct. 5 at the 7-Eleven convenience store, 1905 W. 25th; and Sept. 25th and the Horine Retail Liquor Store, 2420 Iowa.
Police also believe the robberies are connected because the suspect has used the same method and a similar weapon in each.
