Kansas University will celebrate homecoming this weekend as its football team takes on the Kansas State University Wildcats.
During the weekend, the Class of 1980 will be in town to celebrate its 10th reunion, and KU will celebrate its 125th anniversary.
Several activities have been planned for returning Jayhawks and for Lawrence residents looking for something to do this weekend.
Festivities kick off at 7:30 p.m. tonight with a presentation by KU's 125th anniversary panel. "Looking Back at the Future: Revisiting Forecasts Made at KU's Centennial in 1966" will feature Howard Mossberg, pharmacy dean; Del Shankel, executive vice chancellor; Deanell Tacha, judge, U.S. Court of Appeals; James Gunn, professor of English; and Dolph Simons Jr., editor and publisher, Lawrence Journal-World. They will speak in Alderson Auditorium in the Kansas Union.
THE CLASS of 1980 will begin its 10th reunion at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Adams Alumni Center. Tickets are available from the Alumni Association.
A pep rally at 7 p.m. Friday at Potter Pavilion will urge KU fans to support the Jayhawks, who go into homecoming with a 1-5-1 season. The rally will feature the junior varsity cheerleaders, assistant football coach Pat Ruel, Black Student Union's crowning of the African-American king and queen and KU's pep band. It is sponsored by JRP Hall, BSU, GSP-Corbin Hall, Phi Beta Sigma, Gamma Phi Beta and Delta Chi.
The annual homecoming parade is set for 9 a.m. Saturday in downtown Lawrence. The parade, featuring floats, bands and marching units, will begin at Buford Watson Park at Seventh and Vermont streets and end at South Park at 12th and Massachusetts streets.

An information booth from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., sponsored by the Alumni Association, Kansas Union lobby.
An exhibit featuring Jayhawk memorabilia, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Kansas Union Gallery. The exhibition will run Friday to Nov. 2. The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
"In-Between Acts," 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Kansas Union lobby. The acts will feature shorts from previous Rock Chalk Revues.
Pregame festivities are scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. near the south end of Memorial Stadium. V-100 Radio will play live music.
Picnic-Under-the-Tent, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot near Memorial Stadium. Tickets are available from the KU Alumni Association and at the gate. The picnic will feature Oktoberfest-style food and the Junkyard Jazz Band.
The Chuck Berg Ensemble will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kansas Union lobby. The show will feature live jazz music led by Chuck Berg, KU professor of theater and film.
THE FOOTBALL game against KU's rival, the Wildcats, kicks off at 1 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. Tickets are available in advance from the Alumni Association and at gate. The award-winning floats will be on display south of the stadium.
No matter the outcome of the game, homecoming festivities will continue after the game. Sponsored by Student Union Activities, Earth Healers, featuring African roots dancers, will perform immediately following the football game in the Kansas Union lobby.
