— Services for Velma M. Alford, 73, Sedan, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church of Sedan with Ina Brooks and the Rev. Ron Walters officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Alford died Sunday at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Home in Sedan.

She was born March 21, 1917, in Eureka. She attended grade school in Eureka and graduated from high school in Wann, Okla. She also graduated from Southwestern College in Winfield. She was a retired school teacher, having taught grade school for 22 years in Sedan, along with teaching at other schools in Chautauqua and Montgomery counties.

Mrs. Alford was a member of the First Christian Church of Sedan, the National Education Assn. and the Kansas-NEA.

She married Clarence "Bud" Alford on Jan. 27, 1942, in Sedan. He survives at the home.

Other survivors include a brother, Elbert Edwin Sanders, Lawrence.

The family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church of Sedan, in care of Graves Funeral Home in Caney.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until services Wednesday at the First Christian Church of Sedan.
