Baldwin The Baldwin City Council Monday night approved a five-year lease agreement with Top Management Services, an Overbrook firm, for operation of the Orchard Lane Nursing Facility.
Rick Shain, city manager, said this morning that the city has operated the nursing home in the past, something that no longer is feasible because of financial restraints, increased federal regulations and a number of other factors.
The firm will make yearly payments to the city totaling $102,000.
In other business, council members:
Adopted an ordinance updating the city's codes.
Approved an ordinance that increased the trash pick-up rates for residential customers by 35 cents to $6.10 per month.
Rescheduled the council's first November meeting to Tuesday, Nov. 13, in recognition of Veteran's Day.
