Funeral services for Homer D. Nelson, 69, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Chapel in Lawrence with the Rev. Ron Goodman officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence.
Mr. Nelson died Saturday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 25, 1920, in Lawrence and lived here his entire life.
Mr. Nelson had been a laboratory technician at the DuPont Tecumseh plant. He retired April 30, 1982. He worked at the Alvamar Golf Course for eight years until Nov. 1, 1989.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in North Africa, France and Italy.
Mr. Nelson was a member of the Eagles Lodge, the American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14, the Lawrence Shrine Club, Acacia Lodge No. 9 AF&AM; and the Scottish Rite Bodies, all of Lawrence. He also was a member of the Abdallah Shrine Club, Overland Park, and a former member of the Alford-Clarke Post No. 852 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Nelson was a member of the First Christian Church, Lawrence.
He married Goldie Houghton Feb. 24, 1944, in Belleville. She died July 17, 1976.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen D., Alexandria, Va., and Donald L., Lawrence; a brother, Ralph, Lawrence; and two grandchildren.
