A seven-car accident Friday afternoon at 15th and Iowa streets resulted in three drivers being taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital where they were treated and released.
Teresa Underwood, 27, 3700 Clinton Pkwy., Timothy C. Gregg, 33, 3302 W. Ninth St., and Margaret E. Omon, 30, 1607 W. Ninth St., were taken to the hospital after their cars were rear-ended as part of the chain-reaction accident.
Robert W. Hird, 70, was cited for careless driving after his station wagon struck two other cars, starting the chain reaction. Hird was headed south on Iowa Street and the other cars involved were at the intersection waiting for the traffic signal to change.
Hird told the police that he had taken high blood pressure medication Friday morning and that he may have fallen asleep.
No damage estimates were available.
