Kansas University's debate team won several trophies at weekend debate tournaments.
The team of Tim Howard and Dan Francis placed second at the Augustana Illinois Debate Tournament, losing to Wayne State University in the final round.
In the same tournament, the team of Jeremy Phillips and Chris Baron finished third. Tim Howard won individual honors as the fifth-place speaker.
At the Central State University Debate Tournament in Edmond, Okla., the team of Tim Mahoney and Matt Roskowski finished second. It was the third time in five consecutive tournaments that Roskoski and Mahoney have reached the final round.
Roskoski also earned first-place individual honors, giving him speaker awards at five consecutive tournaments.
This weekend, the debate team will compete at Wichita State and Wake Forest in Winston Salem, N.C. So far this semester, the Kansas debate team has won 31 team and individual awards.
