To the Editor:
During the long discussion of the proposed southern bypass, I have not seen any mention of the tearing-up of large amounts of land which occurs whenever a new highway is built. On both sides of the road and in vast areas at every intersection the earth-movers really do destroy the surroundings. Fifteen intersections!
Quite apart from the effects of a stream of long-distance trucks, we will see the landscape south and west of Lawrence damaged extensively and forever.
