LINWOOD WOMAN KILLED IN CRASH

— A 21-year-old Linwood woman was killed early Tuesday morning when a vehicle in which she was a passenger ran a stop sign, became airborne and struck an embankment at the northern edge of Linwood.

Dawn M. Hogue, 21, Linwood, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The driver of the vehicle, William Frentrop, 22, rural Bonner Springs, was listed in good condition this morning at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

According to Leavenworth County Sheriff Department reports, a Jeep driven by Frentrop failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Main Street and K-32 Highway.

Frentrop was transported by Douglas County Ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with head and chest injuries he received when he hit the Jeep's steering wheel, the reports stated.

A cause of the accident is not yet known and Leavenworth County officers are investigating. No citations have been issued.
