Law enforcement report
A member of the 1989-1990 Kansas University men's basketball team was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, having no auto insurance and leaving the scene of an accident after an incident at 1:55 a.m. today at an apartment complex at 1338 Ohio. Police reported that the player, Terry Brown, 22, had parked his vehicle in a parking lot reserved for tenants of the apartment building and had gone to the Jayhawk Cafe, 1340 Ohio. A 21-year-old man who lives in the apartment building reported that he parked his vehicle behind Brown's car. When Brown and another man returned from the tavern, police said, Brown's companion "and some friends" attempted to push the 21-year-old man's vehicle out of their path. The apartment resident came to see what was happening, police said, and became involved in an argument with Brown's companion, Spencer Lindsay, 23, 2357 Ridge Ct. Police said Lindsay struck the apartment resident. When Brown later left the parking lot, police said, he struck a car parked in the lot. He then drove away, police said, but was arrested near 14th and Ohio. Lindsay was arrested on a count of battery. Both Brown and Lindsay were released on bond and were ordered to appear May 16 in Lawrence Municipal Court.
Tammy S. Jantz, 25, Baldwin, was treated and released after an accident at 3:27 p.m. Thursday on North Second Street near North Street. Police reported that a pickup truck driven south on North Second by Michael C. Miller, 23, Perry, changed lanes to avoid Jantz's car, which was stopped in a southbound lane, and struck another southbound car driven by Linda S. McNish, 25, Rt. 3, Lawrence. The pickup truck then struck Jantz's car.
