A passenger in a vehicle that crashed Friday night on Douglas County Road 422, about four miles west of Lawrence, was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital and transfered to Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka. At the patient's request, officials at Stormont-Vail declined to release information on the condition of Diane Helmet, 25, Stull. Blaine Miltner, Rt. 4, Lawrence, was driving the pickup truck when it left the road and went into a ditch around 9:50 p.m. Friday, according to Douglas County sheriff's reports. Miltner, 31, was treated for minor cuts at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and released. A Douglas County sheriff's dispatcher said that a written report on the accident would not be available until Monday morning.
A 49-year-old Lawrence woman was treated for a back sprain at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and released following a collision in the 2100 block of Iowa on Friday afternoon, according to police reports. Arvilla Vickers, 424 Ind., told police she was southbound on Iowa, approaching West 23rd St., around 4:15 p.m. when she started to lose control of her vehicle. Thomas Snowman, 26, 2450 W. 25th., told police he also was heading south on Iowa, when he observed Vickers' car fishtailing.
