Criminal charges filed
Eugene Cosey Jr., 19, no address listed, made a first appearance Friday on numerous charges after he was arrested earlier for allegedly pointing a gun at a Lawrence man outside the Lawrence Community Building, 115 W. 11th. Cosey was charged in that incident with a misdemeanor count of battery and felony counts of aggravated assault and making terroristic threats. He also was charged with two felony counts of forgery, two misdemeanor counts of battery, a felony count of theft and a misdemeanor count of theft stemming from other incidents. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 9.
Criminal case proceedings
Richard Small, age not listed, 1801 La., was found guilty Thursday of felony counts of selling marijuana, possessing marijuana with intent to sell, not affixing a Kansas drug tax stamp to marijuana and a misdemeanor count of possessing drug paraphernalia. The verdict came at the end of a trial that began Wednesday for Small, who was charged Feb. 2 with the offenses after an investigation by the Lawrence-Douglas County Drug Enforcement Unit. Sentencing is scheduled for July 25.
