Criminal case proceedings
Timothy J. Stevens, 34, Roeland Park, Thursday was ordered to stand trial on two felony counts of forgery alleging that he forged checks belonging to Pack & Ship Express Inc., 2449 Iowa, on May 25 and May 26. A trial date will be scheduled next Thursday for Stevens. Another felony count of forgery was dismissed Thursday.
William C. Foulke Jr., 27, 1131 Tenn., Thursday was sentenced to one to two years imprisonment, but then was granted a probation term on an amended felony count of attempted aggravated sexual battery. He originally was charged March 14 with a felony count of taking indecent liberties with a child after he allegedly sexually molested an 8-year-old Lawrence girl. He pleaded no contest May 31 and was found guilty of the amended charge.
Two trials have been scheduled for a 23-year-old Lawrence man who is charged with a felony count of aggravated assault and two felony counts of taking indecent liberties with a child. The case containing the aggravated assault charge stems from a June 13 incident in which he allegedly assaulted a Lawrence woman while armed with a compound hunting bow. Trial in that case is scheduled for Sept. 10. The other case alleges that the man sexually molested a 15-year-old Paola girl on June 13. Trial in the indecent liberties case is scheduled for Aug. 27.
