The Audio-Reader Network at Kansas University has ended a four-month search for a director by naming Janet Campbell to the post.
Campbell, 33, has served as operations manager at the network for 10 years. She also served as interim director during the network's search for a permanent director.
Campbell will oversee seven full-time staff members and 180 volunteers for the network.
Ellen Unruh, outreach coordinator of Audio-Reader and chairman of the director's search committee, said Campbell was chosen from 36 applicants and six finalists.
Unruh said a nationwide search for a new director had been going on since mid-October. Audio-Reader has been without a permanent director since the end of September, she said.
According to Unruh, the search committee sought input from Audio-Reader staff, volunteers and listeners. The committee then made a recommendation to the vice chancellor of the Office of Research, Graduate Studies and Public Service, who approved the recommendation.
