Rain that fell on the area overnight and this morning has pushed Lawrence past normal rainfall amounts for the year so far.
The Lawrence area received .63 of an inch of moisture as of about 11 a.m. today, according to forecasters at the Kansas University Weather Service, bringing the total monthly rainfall amount so far to 1.1 inches, slightly behind normal February rainfall of 1.25 inches.
However, January brought above-normal rainfall of 1.49 inches that put the city above expected rainfall amounts when added to February's moisture. Normal rainfall for January is 1.11 inches, the KU Weather Service said.
Rainfall for the two months put Lawrence's total mosture for the year to date at 2.59 inches, compared to normal amounts of 2.36 inches.
The rain was expected to continue through today, but is to end by tonight, forecasters said. Low temperatures tonight and Friday night are expected to be in the mid-20s and high temperatures Friday and Saturday are predicted to be 48 both days.
