SALVATION ARMY HITS 39% OF HOLIDAY GOAL

The Salvation Army of Lawrence has collected $45,009, or 39 percent of its $115,000 goal, in its annual Christmas drive, a news release from the organization said.

Donations to Salvation Army bell-ringers are up 11 percent from last year's drive during the same period, the release said.

The release also said 362 applications have been recieved for Christmas assistance, and 172 individuals or groups have asked to adopt families.

Anyone wishing to adopt a family may call 843-4188. Contributions may be mailed to the Salvation Army at 946 N.H.

Salvation Army bell-ringers and their kettles are located at 14 sites in Lawrence.
