Memorial services for Emily P. Turney, 87, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. next Thursday at Trinity Episcopal Church. Cremation is planned. Rumsey Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Mrs. Turney died Aug. 1 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 22, 1902, in Duluth, Minn. She received bachelor's degrees in home economics and early childhood education from the University of Minnesota in 1926 and moved to Lawrence in 1928.
Mrs. Turney was supervisor of Kansas nursery schools for the Works Progress Administration.
She was an accredited flower show judge and an active member of the Lawrence Flower Club. She also was a member of Bookfellows, the East Lawrence Improvement Assn., the Lawrence Music Club, the Lawrence League of Women Voters and the Zodiac Club.
She married Austin Henry Turney in Minnesota. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Austin H., Bethel, Conn.; a sister, Rose P. Tockus, Portland, Ore.; and a grandson.
The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Public Library, in care of the funeral home.
