Haskell halfback Terriss Noble rushed for 104 yards on nine carries, scored a touchdown and had a 75-yard burst called back because of penalty in the Indians' season-opening football scrimmage Saturday morning at Haskell Stadium.
Noble, who also threw for a TD pass, injured his ankle late in the scrimmage and is expected to miss a couple days of practice.
Quarterback Noonie Red Eagle rushed for 58 yards on seven carries and also completed eight of 11 passes for 85 yards.
Running back Fabian Glass added 68 yards on 10 carries, while coach Gary Tanner said quarterback candidate Scott Winfield also had a good scrimmage.
Freshman defensive end Jack LeFlore and defensive back Brian Ishcomer were cited for plays on defense.
Meanwhile, inside linebacker Jim Bob Cottingim had six unassisted tackles. Defensive tackle Brett Walker had six tackles and free safety Morris Brewer contributed four.
"We were real happy with our overall look," said Tanner. "Our kids played with emotion. Our first team offense looked pretty much like we thought they would. We had a couple big plays called back."
The Tribe will scrimmage Mid America Nazarene's varsity at 7 p.m. next Saturday at Haskell.
